Have been listening to Nneka for a couple of years now and I just cannot believe what a performer she is both in the studio and when performing live. Here’s an artiste that certainly deserves wider exposure and certainly more recognition. Be it politics, her country Nigeria or human relationships, Nneka exudes pure passion.

I love her accent (not faking), something bands from non-English speaking countries need to learn when singing songs in English.

Her “Book of Job” was the first song I listened to. It was incidentally the first song of one of her live performances.  The Reggae number is more spiritual referring to life of Job in “The Bible” and how God in delivering judgement to Job’s suffering  will likely one day deliver justice to the those suffering in her native country, Nigeria. When I first stared listening/watching this video it was under a million views and now it has crossed a million views.

Soul is Heavy” – After watching this video of her’s (also over a million views now on YouTube) I looked up Isaac Boro, Ken Saro Wiwa and Jaja of Opobo. I also love the way she says “Great Mother” and “Merciful Allah“. Lovely song.

Resteless” – Another passionately rendered song.

Shining Star” – I love this lovely song and so will you.

The other hits are in the playlist below, “Camouflage“, “Focus“, “Suffri” and “Come with me“. I’ll add others as I get them.
