My first question after listening to this band was, “Where are they now?”

Being a band from Chennai and myself, being a resident of Chennai, I discovered them a bit late. Sadly they have seemed to have gone off the radar. There isn’t any sign of any new stuff. All one can access are their videos on YouTube and songs on Soundcloud.

Calling their music “neo carnatic funk” it was a very refreshing sound melting the “classical mandolin” with western instruments.  Some of the band members are already well known, particularly Aalaap Raju who plays bass for musicians in Tamil movies and has even sung songs in Tamil for Tamil movies. Leon James, their keyboardist recently signed up for his first movie where he debuts as music director. Then there is Prakash Hariharan on Mandolin and Jeoraj George on Drums. The four make an awesome combo when it comes to the music they are playing. After listening to them, I thought to myself,  I would even produce their next album if I had the money. Meanwhile let us pray they have more in the offing.

For now their music can be found on YouTube and Soundcloud. Here are two of their biggest hits, one on YouTube, a beautiful bluesy piece based on the Reethigowla raga, aptly titled “Reethigowla Blues“. The other is on SoundCloud, a cover of John McLaughlin‘s “Luki“. Enjoy!
